What is a conditional business line?
A conditional business line is a line of business in which investment and business activities in that field require special regulations, requirements, or licenses from the state management agency. These conditions are often applied to ensure safety, quality, compliance with the law and order in business activities, and to protect the interests of consumers, the community, and the nation.
The conditions for registering a conditional business line may include: Capital conditions, labor conditions (For example, the medical, legal, engineering, architectural, and educational sectors may require certificates, degrees, or professional authority), conditions on safety and environmental regulations, electricity on some types of sub-licenses, etc.

Lookup table of conditional business lines
Currently, in Appendix IV of the Investment Law 2020, along with guiding and supplementary documents, there are a total of 230 conditional business lines. This requires investors to fully meet the conditions in order to invest in these business lines. According to the law, to invest in a conditional business, the following contents are required:
- Scope & subjects of business conditions.
- Types of enterprises subject to business investment conditions.
- Contents of business investment conditions.
- Documents & administrative procedures for compliance with conditional business investment (if any).
- Competent authorities to handle dossiers and administrative procedures for conditional business investment.
- Duration of validity of sub-licenses or certificates, licenses, and permits of conditional business lines.
